Suzie Cave Pentathlete
Suzie's athletic journey began at a young age
Suzie’s athletic journey began at a young age, representing NI and Ireland in a variety of sports including running. At the grand age of 30, Suzie set her eyes on a new challenge and took up Modern Pentathlon.
The modern pentahtlon
The multi-disciplinary sport involved Suzie learning to swim, fence and shoot from scratch.
Suzie admits this was challenging whilst juggling a full-time job, but her commitment to the challenge meant she squeezed in training during every waking minute, and she is now 3rd in Europe in the 30-40 age category.
- She first learnt to swim and fence just four years ago and is now ranked as number 3 in Europe in modern pentathlon
- One year after taking up modern pentathlon Suzie placed third at the 2016 Masters World Championships. One year later, she returned to the podium, this time to Egypt and took the gold.
Team GB Triathlete
In 2019, she then made the transition over to Triathle where she has achieved some of her best results to date. In the last year she represented Team GB in the Triathle World Championships in St Petersburg, Florida, smashing it to come home 5th in the World.
To top off an amazing year of achievements, she is also the current British Triathle Champion and her amazing dedication gained her a nomination and shortlist for this year's NI Sports Personality of Year. Suzie is aiming for the next European and World Championships and hopes to continue to inspire others to keep focussed on their goals and live a healthy lifestyle.
As a proud ambassador, suzie's favourite is
'With working full time and focusing hard on my training goals, I need healthy & nutritious snacks. I keep Fruit & Nut mix in my training bag – its a source of magnesium and iron so keep my muscles functioning and fatigue at bay.'
